Spartan Invite @ Forest Akers East 75 degrees, cloudy, humid Sept 14, 2018   Elite Race Team Scores 1. Brighton 103 2. Ann Arbor Pioneer 163 3. CHELSEA 190 4. Hudsonville 286 5. Saline 290 6. Jensen Holm 16:14 33. Foster Thorburn 16:29 53. Will Scott 16:54 82. Joseph Norwood 17:14 122. Zander Hartsuff 17:32 137. Owen Smith 17:42 (260 runners in race )   Individual Results (JV) 21. Jimmy Alford 18:15 125. Shaun Happy 19:36 135. Robert Stump 19:46 272. Caden Faupel 21:06 319. Jack Smith 21:29 (642 Runners in race ) Coach Eric Swager’s Comments: What a huge event. This thing involves hundreds of teams and thousands of runners. It was a hot, sunny, humid midday that tested the toughness of all involved. Once again, we performed admirably. To be one of the trophy winners in the elite race is an outstanding result for a smaller school like Chelsea. Brighton was not to be beat, and they are the clear D1 favorite heading into mid-season. Pioneer slid by us with a solid improvement as well. We managed to blast well clear of the remaining teams in the 39 team field. We were 200 points ahead of the next D2 school, and we managed to run Chelsea Style throughout the meet. As a team, we passed more than 200 runners in the last half of the race - our winning strategy. I continue to be proud of these guys toughness and work ethic.  We now have almost 2 weeks of training time to zero in on some specific improvements. Thanks to all the supporters that came out!!!

Outstanding performance from the guys.  Again, Pioneer was the Pre-Season ranked #2 team in the entire Midwest, and we managed to squeak by them and the rest of the SEC. I am so proud of the hard work this crew has put in all summer. Coach Swager
