WHITMORE LAKE HIGH SCHOOL: 0
At a very competitive Whitmore Lake Relays, the Chelsea girl's track and field team placed 4th out of 13 teams. Specifically, the top five teams were 1st AA Skyline (96 pts), 2nd Saline (81 pts), 3rd Pinkney (55 pts), 4th Chelsea (46 pts), and 5th Dexter (44 pts). I felt we responded well against tough competition and had a number of personal records (PRs) as well as good splits. I was pleased with girl's preparation for the meet as well as their positive attitude going into it and during the meet. It was a long event.
Shot & Discus. Jordan Holton, Jamie Gorman, and Kyle Bragg placed 2nd in the discus with a combined throw of 242' 9". Kyle PRed by 15' and Jamie PRed by 12'. In the shot, the group placed 4th with a total throw of 77' 2.75". Kyle PRed by 3' and Jamie PRed by 1'. An outstanding improvement by these two athletes!
In the pole vault, the team of Jenna Gileczek, Sabrina Matusko, and Breanne Black took 2nd. Freshman Breanne Black got her PR in the event with a height of 8'0". Congrats to Breanne!
Shuttle Hurdle Relay team of Kaehla Manly, Kendra Patterson, Breanne Black, and Ailish Joyce took 4th place with a collective time of 1:18.33. These girls continue to improve in the short hurdle races.
The 4x1600m relay, which was comprised of Emily Chizek, Allison Hause, Riley Thorburn, and Jacqueline Taylor had a combined time of 24:27.73. Emily Chizek lead the group with a time of 5:50.15 in which she dropped her PR in mile by 5 seconds. We are excited by Emily's versatility and improvement this year.
In the Sprint Medley (100-300-600-200), the team of Jenna Gileczek, Riley Thorburn, Sydney Matusik, and Myranda Montoye placed 4th with a time of 3:23.2. A solid performance by each athlete.

We are heading to Adrian on Tuesday (4/17) to compete with an SEC division opponent. We are currently 1-0 in the league. We hope to see some of our fans there. On Friday, we are hosting the Chelsea Relays, which has an awesome atmosphere for track and field.
